professor & author dick Farkas announces a two-volume work
MAKING WAY: Sailing into the Revolutionary Storm (Vol. 1)
and
MAKING WAY: The Revolutionary Storm Rages (Vol. 2)
With a “responsible view” of history,
written for young adults
MAKING WAY: Sailing into the Revolutionary Storm (Vol. 1)
MAKING WAY: Sailing into the Revolutionary Storm (Vol.1) is a story of a bunch of directionless characters who rally to meet their day-to-day challenges. Their lack of awareness about the American Rebellion and the many changes taking place around them entangle them inescapably.
MAKING WAY: The Revolutionary Storm Rages (Vol.2)
MAKING WAY: The Revolutionary Storm Rages (Vol.2) completes the story of the crew as they are compelled to engage in the war of privateers. As the skipper prepared for the fight, a unique new crew is assembled. The crew survives by stealth, ingenuity and unusual tactics (Volume 1 is currently available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble; Volume 2 is soon to be available as well.)
The author gratefully acknowledges the artistic and editorial contributions of two fine graphic design artists, Jessica Larva and Mary Ann Papanek-Miller. Thanks also to Gregory Sucilla for his thoughtful guidance and numerous suggestions in the design and creation of this website.
An old man walks slowly across the weathered landscape of Cuttyhunk. He is a difficult, crusty, and critical man whose only soft spot is his affection for the sea. He walks the small island from end to end every day except for the harshest winter days.He is a singular man, not unhappy when alone. He has a kinship with the sea and all those who have lived and written its rich history.
