MAKING WAY: Sailing in to the Revolutionary Storm (Vol. 1)

MAKING WAY: Sailing in to the Revolutionary Storm (Vol.1) is a story of a bunch of directionless characters who rally to meet their day-to-day challenges. Their lack of awareness about the American Rebellion and the many changes taking place around them entangle them inescapably.

MAKING WAY: The Revolutionary Storm Rages (Vol.2)

MAKING WAY: The Revolutionary Storm Rages (Vol.2) completes the story of the crew as they are compelled to engage in the war of privateers. As the skipper prepared for the fight, a unique new crew is assembled. The crew survives by stealth, ingenuity and unusual tactics (available from booksellers Spring, 2025.)

An old man walks slowly across the weathered landscape of Cuttyhunk. He is a difficult,  crusty, and critical man whose only soft spot is his affection for the sea.   He walks the small island from end to end every day except for the harshest winter days.  He is a singular man, not unhappy when alone.  He has a kinship with the sea and all those who have lived and written its rich history.

Takes You on a Journey

I really enjoyed Making Way. As a history buff, I loved the dive into the world of colonial America from many different perspectives. The story immerses you into the world of sailing as well, a great metaphor for navigating the highs and lows of life and the consequences of the decisions we make. Each chapter overflows with lessons for every age. Looking forward to part two.

Wise Insights

You and your book are what is lacking in most of our classrooms across the country … courageous and humorous adventure, the essence of wisdom.”  “Wisdom of the sort epitomized by an iconic idol of many former students at Northwestern, the late William Montgomery McGovern, author of To Lahasa in Disguise, Jungle Paths, and Inca Ruins.”   “Wisdom now reincarnated in my colleague Dick Farkas and his enduring written odyssey, Making Way.  If Mark Twain alerted the safe passage of two fathoms depth, your book is a much deeper and more meaningful guide.  Dick Farkas, no longer, now to be known as the author of Making Way.  I am in awe of your book
