Nev is an old sea dog who fell on hard times after a leg injury on his last voyage forced him to give up everything that made him who he was.

No longer able to pull his weight at sea, he feels cut off from everything he values. He longs for companionship but has no prospects. No person can fill that void, but a sleek new ship of wood and canvas might.
